#42 Indiana Jonesing in Jordan and Petra and the Dead Sea

IN between the madness of this summer's book tour, I was fortunate to get out of the Country and head over to the Middle East to do some cool sight seeing and also visit some friends in Israel. My travels not only took me to the Holy Land and into Jerusalem and the Beaches of Tel Aviv, but I also visited Jordan.

So much history in this part of the world that it will make your head spin....from ancient civilizations in the Canyons of Jordan, to the birthplace of Christianity, Judaism and Arabic culture....not to mention the complexity of the political issues in Israel.
Not too many people have been to the Lowest Point on Earth less than 3 months after visiting the highest point on Earth, so between summitting Everest on May 26th, and Swimming in the Salty Dead Sea on Aug 12, 2012, I have been from 8850m/29,035' all the way down to 423m/-1388' below sea level.......a elev difference unmatched on the surface of the earth, some 9200m and 30,423'! And it was HOT in the desert and the dead sea, real hot.
I got to see the sights and felt like Indiana Jones all along the way........check out the photos.
