Post #56: SNOW BONANZA! Happy Holidays! Twas the night before Christmas and all through the Vail Valley, Not a creature was stirring, except an occasional holiday presentation and the giant crystal flakes of snow......... Yes, I've been getting up on the Mountain on my skis, and skinning up about an hour before the lifts open.......and I've been getting rewarded this week with lots of champagne and first tracks! My Friend Chris Tomer Calls it a SNOW BONANZA.....CT, what exactly defines a snow BONANZA? What are the rules? How much snow constitutes a SNOW BONANZA? Its been snowing everyday since Saturday, a few inches here and a few inches there......But now I am looking for the clincher: 20 inches or more would be a nice early Christmas present, and then we'll take to the ski hill, the back bowls and then I can even climb my favorite peak and ski off of it! Then we can officially rule it as BONANZA I of the many Bonanzas we hope to get this winter. In the meantime, I have a few fun holiday events coming up in the next few days. Wed Dec 19th 4-6 pm join me and Ellen Miller for a Special Holiday Everest Presentation to benefit some of our favorite charities in the Valley! Vista Restaurant in Arrowhead. Also, Saturday Dec 29th, 2012: I will be presenting about Sleeping on the Summits: Colorado 14er High Bivys. at 7pm in Aspen, CO at Explore Booksellers.
Merry Christmas to All and to All a Good Night! Dr. Jon |
